Ally Bennett is a third year at Chapman University, majoring in Psychology and double minoring in Integrated Educational Studies and Law, Justice, and Social Control. She loves to travel near and far - in fact, she just got back from studying abroad in Prague, Czech Republic! Ally is not local to Southern California, and offers an alternative perspective on life in the OC! Let's hear from her:
Q: Where are you from?
A: I was born and raised on Long Island, New York.
Q: How did you choose to move to Orange County?
A: I chose to move out to Orange County for college as I wanted a vastly new experience. It also helped that my brother lives in Los Angeles, so he's close enough to get together with often.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Orange County?
A: One of my favorite things to do in Orange County is go to various towns and check out what their food scene is like. In doing so, I've not only been able to find really good food but also learn about the area and its culture!
Q: Do you have an all-time favorite restaurant here?
A: I love "Din Tai Fung" (but that's a small chain now) and "Haute Cakes" in Newport Beach. I also recently found a delicious and very authentic sushi restaurant in Irvine called "Taiko".
Q: When it comes to weekend activities, what do you miss about New York?
A: When it comes to my weekend activities in NY, they are generally quite similar to the ones here. No matter where I am, I like to hang out with friends and family! That being said, I miss being able to take the train to NYC and spend a day wandering around. I also miss having different weather seasons, as the seasons themselves can create new and fun weekend activities.
Q: When you and your friends are trying to figure out something fun to do, how do you decide? What do you use to help you (Google, Yelp, blogs, etc.)?
A: We definitely use Google and Yelp A LOT!!!
